MED STUDENTS PROJECT
The project is designed by Pavia nel Cuore in collaboration with the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Pavia.
The aim is to train all the 3rd year students of the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Pavia with a a BLS/AED course every year!
In this way we will have a future generation of doctors trained in life-saving manoeuvres and we will increase survival from out-of-hospital cardiac arrest!
By joining the project you will be able to:
- Become part of a robust and locally rooted volunteer organisation.
- Acquire the title of BLS/AED Instructor issued by the “Federazione Italiana Arresto Cardiaco”.
- Participate in all the association’s activities in favour of the community.
- Teach life-saving skills to 3rd year students… and beyond!

How to become a Pavia nel Cuore volunteer in 3 steps
1. Let us know you’re interested and come for an interview
Fill in the online form: we’ll then explain in detail how the training programme works and arrange an introductory interview – an informal meeting to get to know each other and work out together how best to involve you. You can do this at any time of year, without having to wait for a series of information sessions.
2. Start volunteering with a mentor
If the interview goes well, you can start volunteering straight away: a mentor will guide you through your first steps, right on the ground.
3. Attend the information sessions
There are two sessions, each lasting around two and a half hours, held by Pavia nel Cuore volunteers at their premises at Via Francesco Orsi 1 in Pavia. We’ll discuss cardiac arrest, the history and activities of the association, its organisation and the world of volunteering. They’re free of charge. You must attend them within 12 months of the interview.
The next series of information sessions for students of Medicine and Surgery in Pavia will take place on 22 and 29 October 2026, at 9.00 pm, at our offices.
You will also be able to take part in the two-day Instructor Course run by trainers from the Federazione Italiana Arresto Cardiaco.
PLEASE NOTE: to take part in Pavia nel Cuore’s activities, you must have at least an intermediate level of Italian; unfortunately, we are not yet able to organise programmes for those who only speak English.
